On October 1, Gonzaga Law School began classes with 19 students and a faculty of five: Judges William Huneke, George Tuner and J. Stanley Webster, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney R. L. McWilliams, and Attorney Francis Garrecht, state representative from Walla Walla. All faculty volunteered their time and expertise.

Attorneys E. J. Cannon and Ben Kizer were appointed to purchase a complete law library and made arrangements with the Spokane Bar Association to allow students access to the library in the courthouse.

E. J. Cannon was appointed first dean of the law school.
