<p>A cornerstone ceremony was held for the new law building October 19 by Chief Justice Richard P. Guy, Washington State Supreme Court, and Madam Justice Claire L’Heureux-Dubé, Supreme Court of Canada. Madam Justice Claire L’Heureux-Dubé also delivered the 1999 Luvera Lecture.</p>
<p>Gonzaga Law launched its first website.</p>
<p>Chilean Law Professors Luis Ivan Diaz Garcia, from the Catholic University of Temuco, Chile, and Mirtha Lucia Ulloa Gonzales, from Diego Portales University in Santiago, visited the Law School in February.</p>

<p>Acquired land for new law school building site, with a groundbreaking and public announcement of the fundraising campaign &#8220;Building for the Next Century&#8221; made April 17.</p>
<p>Construction of the new law school building started September 1.</p>
<p>Jose Ramos-Horta delivered the Luvera Lecture on November 13.</p>
<p>The National Moot Court Team advanced to the national competition for the eighth year in a row.</p>

<p>The Women&#8217;s Law Caucus honored Christine Gregoire, the first female Attorney General of Washington State, with the Myra Bradwell Award. Gregoire was elected Governor of Washington State in 2004 and is a 1977 graduate of Gonzaga Law School.</p>
<p>Three international faculty members visited Gonzaga School of Law during the spring semester to observe and learn how to implement a successful clinical law program.</p>
<p>The law school instituted the Gonzaga Alumni Mentor Program, also known as GAMP.</p>
<p>A CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) publication award was presented for <em>The Lawyer</em> alumni magazine.</p>

<p>The Paul N. and Lita Barnett Luvera Lecture Series was created by an endowed gift by the Luveras. Paul received his law degree from Gonzaga Law in 1959 and Lita in 1977. Paul gave the first address of the series in 1990. </p>
